Shalders exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1848-1862.
The Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool have works by him in their collections. He lived in London and Portsmouth and is known for summery views of Surrey, Wales and Ireland. He is also known for his pastoral views, which often include sheep.
The painting is oil on canvas, unrelined, and in excellent condition.
